Our company, ADU1, recently completed a project for a client in Santa Monica, CA. The client had an apartment building with a tuck-under garage that they wanted to convert into a multifamily ADU (Additional Dwelling Unit) in order to generate rental income. The project highlights included combining the ADU construction with a seismic retrofit.

The steps we took to solve the client’s problem included working with the existing garage foundation and framing, and adding a custom multifamily ADU plan. We faced some challenges along the way, but we were ultimately able to complete the project to the client’s satisfaction.
